We should never intentionally try to put someone down or look down on someone from any platform.
Life is bigger than that. We are all in this journey of life together, particularly when we live in and share the same community.
Have you ever been bullied or belittled by someone? It hurts. It is often hard to bounce back from. I have experienced it, witnessed it, have tried to stop it – and hopefully will never be the one who makes anyone feel that way.
No matter what position or role in life you are in having kindness, humanity, and compassion are essential traits.
When someone believes in something different than you or takes the courage to ask questions in a public setting, that in itself should not be justification to put someone down.
It’s not always easy for someone who cares enough about community or an issue to be in the limelight.
If you were stranded on the side of the road in below zero temperatures in a blizzard, that same person could be the one who stops to help.
He/she is the one who pulls over and despite how you treated him/her when you were in a position of power.
He/she will still give you the jacket he/she is wearing to keep you warm, will change your tire, and will make sure you get home safely.
There are people who disagree with you who have good hearts and who would help anyone without question, no matter who they are.
We truly should take the time in life to get to know the people who are on the other side of an issue or situation. Or at the minimum agree to disagree without attacking or belittling.
In all cases, we should treat each other with respect and be kind.
